“Unleashing the Power of AI: Multiverse’s Apprentice Unicorn, Searchlight, Takes the Lead”

Searchlight Founders
The company has bought Searchlight, a startup and recruitment platform that uses artificial intelligence-based technology to source talent. The plan will be to use Searchlight’s tech to build new AI products for Multiverse to expand its professional training services. After that, the plan will be to wind down Searchlight’s recruitment services as they focus on Multiverse’s business. Some people will use AI to speed up what they do; others will claim that AI is taking over certain jobs altogether. “From the start, Anna and Kerry have been thoughtful about building Searchlight’s AI models to complement their vision,” Keith Rabois, who led the Series A, said in a statement provided to TechCrunch.

“Create Your Own Personalized AI Playlists on Spotify with Custom Prompts!”

Ftr Header Ai Playlist 1
Spotify already found success with its popular AI DJ feature, and now the streaming music service is bringing AI to playlist creation. The company on Monday introduced AI playlists into beta, a new option that allows users to generate a playlist based on written prompts. In terms of the technology, Spotify says it’s using large language models (LLMs) to understand the user’s intent. A pop-up menu appears showing the AI Playlist as a new option alongside the existing “Playlist” and “Blend” options. Ahead of AI playlists, Spotify launched a similar feature, Niche Mixes, that allowed users to create personalized playlists using prompts, but the product did not leverage AI technology and was more limited in terms of its language understanding.

View: Anthropic’s Creative Solution to Illicit Answers from AI

Such is the case with Anthropic and its latest research which demonstrates an interesting vulnerability in current LLM technology. Of course given progress in open-source AI technology, you can spin up your own LLM locally and just ask it whatever you want, but for more consumer-grade stuff this is an issue worth pondering. But the closer we get to more generalized AI intelligence, the more it should resemble a thinking entity, and not a computer that we can program, right? If so, we might have a harder time nailing down edge cases to the point when that work becomes unfeasible? Anyway, let’s talk about what Anthropic recently shared.

“Fueling Optimism: Unveiling the Past and Potential of Tomorrow in ‘A Brief History of the Future'”

Brief History Poster
Cynicism is a quality taken almost for granted in tech journalism, and certainly we are as guilty as the next publication. “A Brief History of the Future,” hosted by Ari Wallach, also has the compelling quality of, as a PBS production, being completely free. But now we’re at a point that if we continually do that, we’re going to we’re going to lose the thread. And everyone seems to be relieved to be able to talk about the promise of the future rather than the threat of it. In case you’re wondering what moneyed special interest is trying to placate you with this beneficent presentation of a kindlier, wiser future… don’t worry, I asked.

“Yahoo Acquires Artifact: The Latest News App by Instagram’s Co-Founders – A TechCrunch Minute Story”

Site Artifact Version
News that Yahoo is buying Artifact stirred the technology watercooler yesterday. Artifact was an interesting app, employing AI to help its users find and consume more, and more targeted news. It had some devoted fans, but never reached the sort of scale that would have made it an attractive long-term project. Regardless of whether or not you were an Artifact user — I was for a time — that Yahoo is still feeling acquisitive under its current ownership structure matters. Artifact is hardly the only startup project in the market today that might be looking for a new home, after all.

“Encouraging Women to Embrace AI: Insights from Kristine Gloria of the Aspen Institute on Embracing Curiosity in the Field”

Women In Ai Gloria
We’ll publish several pieces throughout the year as the AI boom continues, highlighting key work that often goes unrecognized. Kristine Gloria leads the Aspen Institute’s Emergent and Intelligent Technologies Initiative — the Aspen Institute being the Washington, D.C.-headquartered think tank focused on values-based leadership and policy expertise. What are some issues AI users should be aware of? What is the best way to responsibly build AI? How can investors better push for responsible AIOne specific task, which I admire Mozilla Ventures for requiring in its diligence, is an AI model card.

Yahoo Acquires Artifact: The AI-Powered News Startup by Instagram’s Co-Founders

Product Shot
Yahoo is acquiring Artifact, the AI-powered news app from Instagram’s co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, the company announced on Tuesday. Artifact will no longer operate as a standalone app, and its proprietary AI-powered personalization technology will be integrated across Yahoo, including the Yahoo News app in the coming months. Although Artifact started off as a simple news app, the end result seemed more like a Twitter replacement. Artifact’s technology surfaces content users want to see and becomes more attuned to their interests over time. As a result, users receive a personalized feed of news stories that they want to read.

“Artificial Intelligence Mastermind Demis Hassabis Receives Knighthood for Contributions at Google DeepMind HQ in UK”

Alongside Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman, who Microsoft hired from AI startup Inflection AI last week, Hassabis founded DeepMind out of London in 2010. So it does make sense that the U.K. would seek to honor one of its most high-profile AI figureheads. Other notable figures from the technology world to receive knighthoods include Apple’s Jonathan “Jony” Ive back in 2011 for “services to design and enterprise.”Delighted and honoured to receive a Knighthood for services to AI. It’s been an incredible journey so far building @GoogleDeepMind over the past 15 years, helping accelerate the field and grow the UK & global AI ecosystems. the king or queen at that given time — technically making the final decision on who receives them.

French spinout Diamfab, founded in 2019, is one example. They also raised an €8.7 million round of funding from Asterion Ventures, Bpifrance’s French Tech Seed fund, Kreaxi, Better Angle, Hello Tomorrow and Grenoble Alpes Métropole. But diamond wafers could also be leveraged for nuclear batteries, space tech and quantum computing, too. While there’s warranted hype around AI in Paris, Grenoble may be the closest to a French Silicon Valley. Now Diamfab hopes it can play a part, too, and unleash the full potential of diamond in semiconductors.

“Transform Your Business: The Key to Successful Mobile Apps Lies in Emulating Consumer Favorites”

And they’re calling their company… The Mobile-First Company. Too many companies that offer B2B tools treat mobile apps as companion apps and second-class citizens. Small companies don’t need a complicated enterprise software solution. While Siel Brunet is more experienced with the needs of large companies, he has also seen how B2B apps don’t work well with small businesses. Many small companies simply rely on consumer apps to fill their needs.
