“Introducing BeScene: The Film Industry’s Networking App with a Tinder Twist”

Bescene
Networking app BeScene launches today to bring filmmakers and other creatives (actors/actresses, animators, cinematographers, costume designers, directors, editors, producers, production assistants, script coordinators, writers and so forth) a Tinder-like experience to help build connections within the entertainment industry. “The simplicity and familiarity allow each user to find what they need quickly and in a way that is meaningful: through real human connections,” Armistead says. Former Tinder executives attempted a similar strategy in 2018 with a networking app called Ripple, which uses the familiar swipe mechanism to match professionals with each other. HUSSLUP, another like-minded networking app for the film biz, also has a swipe feature, however, it’s more aligned with LinkedIn since it provides job search and posting capabilities. While BeScene hasn’t raised any external funding yet, the company gathered $250,000 from friends and family in 2022.

“Introducing CNDO: A Revolutionary Social Platform Connecting Creators and Fans Through Challenges”

Cndo Tc Cover
CNDO (pronounced “condo”) enables content creators to create private social rooms for their followers to engage in a community-wide group chat, participate in challenges and get exclusive updates from their favorite influencers. For instance, creators can encourage their followers to build healthy fitness habits and share daily updates about their workouts with each other. The company also hopes the challenges incentivize users to keep coming back to the app, allowing for a healthy app retention rate. However, the company says creators must pitch their “concept strategy,” and CNDO determines whether they are a right fit for the platform. Schaecker developed CNDO with his two co-founders, Kian Seifert and Jordi Walder, who studied business and data science, respectively.

Cisco announced this morning that it intends to acquire Isovalent, a cloud-native security and networking startup that should fit well with the company’s core networking and security strategy. Tetragon is the company’s open source security visibility component. Jeetu Patel, executive vice president and general manager of security and collaboration at Cisco said that it is essential for companies to work together where security is concerned. And we need to make sure that we stay open in this market and co-innovate, and I think open source is probably one of the best models to co-innovate with,” Patel said. Cisco has been extremely acquisitive this year with this representing the 11th acquisition by the company, the fifth related to security.
