U.S. consulting firm Greylock McKinnon Associates disclosed a data breach in which hackers stole as many as 341,650 Social Security numbers.
The data breach was disclosed on Friday on Maine’s government website, where the state posts data breach notifications.
A spokesperson for the Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment.

GMA told victims that “your personal and Medicare information was likely affected in this incident,” which includes names, dates of birth, home address, some medical information and health insurance information, and Medicare claim numbers, which included Social Security Numbers.

According to the WARN notice posted by California, Apple notified the affected employees on March 28 and the changes will go into effect on May 27.
Affected employees worked at eight locations in Santa Clara, roughly 45 miles south of San Francisco.
The company first started working on its car project, known internally as “Project Titan,” in 2014, and told employees that it was cancelling it on February 27.
Bloomberg reported at the time that some remaining employees who were working on the car project would be shifted to Apple’s generative AI projects.
U.S. repairable laptop maker Framework has confirmed that hackers accessed customer data after successfully phishing an employee at its accounting service provider.
In an email sent to affected customers, Framework said that an employee at Keating Consulting, its primary external accounting partner, fell victim to a social engineering attack that allowed malicious hackers to obtain customers’ personal information related to outstanding balances for Framework purchases.
Framework told affected customers that hackers could use this stolen information to impersonate Framework to ask for payment information.
The Silicon Valley-based accounting company, which primarily provides interim financial leadership and back-office support to startups, has almost 300 clients, according to its website.
Framework said that in light of the incident at Keating, the company will require mandatory phishing and social engineering attack training for any of the company’s employees who have access to Framework customers’ information.
