Studio announced their groundbreaking new offering today – an AI-powered online school for aspiring musicians, songwriters, and producers. This innovative platform brings together top industry artists, personalized schedules and deadlines, and a supportive community of like-minded individuals.
The waitlist for Studio’s Music School is now open, with two pricing options available: $199 per month or $1,799 per year.
The school boasts over 110 popular artists and instructors, including Charlie Puth, Kygo, H.E.R., Idina Menzel, Pentatonix, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Alexander 23, Tainy, and many more. With thousands of exclusive lessons and over 100 topics to choose from, students can explore vocal production, songwriting, music business, sound design, music theory, cover songs, musical theater, and a wide variety of genres including alternative, classical, country, EDM, folk, hip-hop, indie pop, lo-fi, metal, and R&B.
The standout feature of Studio’s Music School is its AI-powered coach, which utilizes OpenAI’s GPT-4 to create personalized curriculums for each student. By considering a student’s interests, goals, learning style, and experience level, the coach can design a custom curriculum that fits their specific needs and schedules. Additionally, if a student has a vacation planned, the coach can make adjustments to ensure they continue to make progress. Students can even input a set number of hours to dedicate to their lessons.
Once enrolled, students will be assigned custom-made projects to work on. By the end of the month, they will walk away with at least one finished, release-ready song.
But the AI coach doesn’t work alone – it is powered by two proprietary frameworks that address GPT-4’s limitations when it comes to educational design. These frameworks, developed by Studio’s expert curriculum design team, leverage thousands of hours of video lessons and data from previous students to determine which lessons, projects, and peer matchings will yield the best results for different types of learners.
In addition to the AI coach, Studio also uses an algorithm to match students with a peer group of 20 individuals who share similar preferences. This allows for weekly feedback from people who have knowledge and experience in the same areas.
It’s worth noting that Studio’s Music School is not for beginners looking to start a career in the music industry. It is designed for creatives who already have a basic understanding and want to enhance their skills. While no equipment is required to participate in classes, it is recommended that students have some type of music software or Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and microphone to record their music.
Studio’s Music School is just the beginning – the company plans to launch more AI-powered schools later this year, focusing on areas such as writing, filmmaking, and design. Studio was founded in 2017 with a focus on filling a gap in the creative learning space. Since then, it has grown to offer classes to over 1 million students.
To date, Studio has raised $60 million from numerous investors including Forerunner Ventures, Human Capital, Greenoaks Capital, Floodgate, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s WndrCo, and notable names such as Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, LinkedIn chairman Jeff Weiner, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, StitchFix founder Katrina Lake, Yelp founder Jeremy Stoppelman, Intuit founder Scott Cook, and Zillow founder Spencer Rascoff.
