Build Something People Want
It’s a simple concept, but one that is highly valued by Y Combinator. Building a successful startup can be challenging, but it all comes down to creating something that resonates with your potential customers. This is often referred to as “product-market fit,” or PMF. The more PMF a technology, good, or service has, the easier it is to sell and retain customers.
PMF is a critical aspect for any startup, even though it can be difficult to define. One definition that stands out is when customers are eagerly taking the product out of your hands. While this may not apply to all startup products, it serves as a useful rule of thumb.
“One definition that has always resonated with your humble servant is that product-market fit is when customers are ripping the product out of your hands.”
TechCrunch Early Stage is hosting Jess Lee in Boston this year to guide early-stage founders looking to reach or refine their current PMF. Other notable speakers at the event include James Currier from NFX, Lily Lyman from Underscore, and of course, Jess Lee herself.
As with all Early Stage events, there will be a key focus on audience Q&A, so be sure to come prepared with your notebook and pens. The event will take place on April 25, so don’t miss out on the early bird discount and grab your tickets now.
“Early Stage is shaping up to be possibly our best-ever shindig for early-stage founders.”
