TikTok is gearing up to launch its own version of Instagram, called TikTok Notes, in specific markets. The app is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in Canada and Australia, as announced by the company on Twitter.

“We’re in the early stages of experimenting with a dedicated space for photo and text content with TikTok Notes. Starting today, TikTok Notes is available for download and limited testing in Australia and Canada.” – TikTokComms (@TikTokComms)

According to TikTok, this new app will provide “a dedicated space for photo and text content.” The company hopes to see their community using TikTok Notes to share various moments through photo posts. Whether it’s capturing adventures, showcasing creativity, or simply sharing snippets of daily life, the app is designed for individuals who want to engage and connect through photo content.

Not much has been revealed about the features and functionality of the app, besides the fact that users can log in with their existing TikTok account. Even the app’s description on the app store is light on details.

“TikTok Notes is a lifestyle platform that offers informative photo-text content about people’s lives, where you can see individuals sharing their travel tips and daily recipes.” – description on app stores

Judging from the screenshots on the App Store listing, posts will be displayed in a two-column grid format on the home page. It also appears that multiple photos can be shared through a carousel post.

Earlier this month, it was reported by TechCrunch that TikTok’s Instagram competitor will likely be called TikTok Notes. It’s worth noting that TikTok already allows image and text posts, but the company wants to create a dedicated space for this type of content to compete with Meta’s apps like Instagram and Threads.
