Social network X is rolling out access to xAI’s Grok chatbot to Premium tier subscribers after Elon Musk announced the expansion to more paid users last month. The company said on its support page that only Premium and Premium+ users can interact with the chatbot in select regions. Last year, after Musk’s xAI announced Grok, it made the chatbot available to Premium+ users — people who are paying $16 per month or a $168 per year subscription fee. Earlier this week, X rolled out a new explore view inside Grok where the chatbot summarizes trending news stories. Last month, xAI open-sourced Grok but without any training data details.

Netflix Under Fire: Meta (Again) Refutes Accusations of Reading Private Facebook Messages from Users

Meta Distorted Glitched
Meta is denying that it gave Netflix access to users’ private messages. Meta’s communications director, Andy Stone, reposted the original X post on Tuesday with a statement disputing that Netflix had been given access to users’ private messages. However, The New York Times had previously reported in 2018 that Netflix and Spotify could read users’ private messages, according to documents it had obtained. “No third party was reading your private messages, or writing messages to your friends without your permission. Many news stories imply we were shipping over private messages to partners, which is not correct,” the blog post stated.

“Boosting Pharma Access to Quality Patient Data: Century Health Secures $2M Investment for Innovative AI Integration”

Century Health Team
Century Health is a new startup also getting in on the action. “One of the biggest issues around innovation for new treatments is efficient access to good patient data. Free FSD Beta Driver-Assistance Trial: Tesla’s Latest Offer for US Customers

Tesla Autopilot 1
Tesla is about to start giving every customer in the U.S. a one-month trial of its $12,000 driver-assistance system, which it calls Full Self-Driving Beta, provided they have a car with the compatible hardware. The company is also reportedly mandating, at CEO Elon Musk’s request, that prospective buyers are given a demo of the software before they purchase a new Tesla. The full-court press to promote FSD Beta software, an upgraded version of the Autopilot system that comes standard in all Tesla vehicles, is happening at an interesting moment for the company. It’s the end of the first quarter of 2024, and Tesla usually pulls out all the stops — including having executives help deliver cars to customers — to meet or beat its sales goals. The decision to temporarily increase access to the FSD Beta software comes as Tesla has been rolling out a new “V12” version of the software that ditches the previous code in favor of a system that runs entirely on neural networks.

GitHub Token Breach: Mintlify Announces Customer Data Compromise

Mintlify Breach Tokens
Documentation startup Mintlify says dozens of customers had GitHub tokens exposed in a data breach at the start of the month and publicly disclosed last week. Mintlify helps developers create documentation for their software and source code by requesting access and tapping directly into the customer’s GitHub source code repositories. These private tokens allow GitHub users to share their account access with third parties apps, including companies like Mintlify. “The targets of this attack were GitHub tokens of our users,” Wang told TechCrunch by email. We are currently working with GitHub and our customers to uncover if any of the other tokens were used by the attacker,” Wang said.

Rivian Launches New Adapters for Accessing Tesla’s Supercharger Network

Rivian Nacs
Ford was the first to start offering the so-called North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters last month for free. Most automakers have announced that future EVs will incorporate Tesla’s charging tech into future vehicles. Rivian’s next-generation vehicles, which it just revealed earlier this month, will also include the Tesla charging port. Making Tesla’s Supercharger network accessible to owners means they now have 15,000 new fast chargers where they can plug in. Rivian has also been building out its own network of fast-charging stations, which it calls the Rivian Adventure Network.

Texas Being Restricting From Pornhub Over Age Verification Legislation

Pornhub Banner
Texas residents can no longer access Pornhub — without a VPN. As of Thursday, when people in Texas try to access any of the porn sites owned by Aylo, formerly MindGeek, they’ll instead see a long message in opposition to age verification laws. Laws requiring age verification on adult entertainment sites have already gone into effect in states including Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, Utah, Montana and North Carolina. “Since age verification software requires users to hand over extremely sensitive information, it opens the door for the risk of data breaches,” Pornhub wrote on its blog. At first, Pornhub complied with age verification via the state-run LA Wallet app, which connects to a Louisiana resident’s ID.
