Here we go again: 2023’s badly handled data breaches Delays, silence and unanswered questions follow these organizations into the new yearLast year, we compiled a list of 2022’s most poorly handled data breaches looking back at the bad behavior of corporate giants when faced with hacks and breaches.
That included everything from downplaying the real-world impact of spills of personal information and failing to answer basic questions.
Samsung won’t say how many customers hit by year-long data breachSamsung has once again made it onto our badly handled breaches list.
Lyca Mobile later admitted a data breach, in which unnamed attackers had accessed “at least some of the personal information held in our system” during the hack.
Data leaked by the gang, and reviewed by TechCrunch, included the personal data of thousands of CommScope employees, including full names, postal addresses, email addresses, personal numbers, Social Security numbers, passport scans and bank account information.
The transition to multi-product can be a significant revenue generator when done successfully.
During my first few years, the company saw rapid growth as customers continued to use our software in new and inventive ways.
Drawing on my experience of graduating monday.com from the one-product mold, here are three steps to ensure your multi-product journey is successful.
If the (product-market) shoe fitsWe all know that finding a product-market fit can be challenging, especially when you have limited resources and must move quickly to find and serve your target market.
But there are a few signals that your initial offering has a wide product-market fit, and it would be easy for you to identify your second product:
The Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are on sale at Apple brick and mortar locations starting today and will hit the company’s online store tomorrow.
Apple notes, “We are thrilled to return the full Apple Watch lineup to customers in time for the new year.
A day after an Apple Watch import ban went into effect in the U.S., an appeals court has instituted a pause.
However, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 remain unavailable on the company’s site nearly a week after initially being pulled.
Masimo has also accused Apple of poaching Masimo employees to build the blood oxygen sensor, which first arrived in 2020 with the Watch Series 6.
Terran Orbital may be close to receiving a major payment from its biggest customer, CEO Marc Bell announced internally at a company-wide meeting earlier this month.
While Terran is pursuing other lucrative contracts that could comprise billions in work, its $2.4 billion contract with Rivada is by far the largest it has secured so far.
Earlier this quarter, Terran had to adjust its full-year financial outlook after Rivada delayed paying an incremental $180 million toward that total contract award.
“I had dinner with [Rivada CEO] Declan Ganley last week in DC,” Bell told staff during the meeting, a recording of which was obtained by TechCrunch.
As of November, Terran reported a backlog of future work of $2.6 billion, of which $2.4 billion is from the Rivada contract.
Firefly Aerospace sent its Alpha rocket to orbit this morning, with the company carrying a payload from Lockheed Martin to space.
Today’s launch marks the fourth-ever flight of Firefly’s Alpha rocket.
The rocket was carrying Lockheed’s demonstrator payload, called the Electronically Steerable Antenna (ESA) technology demonstrator, to low Earth orbit.
From there, the Lockheed Martin payload should have been deployed.
For that mission, Firefly had just 24 hours to complete final launch preparations, encapsulate the payload and mate it to the rocket.
The idea “originated out of his hatred for California’s proposed high-speed rail system,” according to his biographer Ashlee Vance.
And the news of its demise broke less than two weeks after the Biden administration announced $6 billion in funding for high-speed rail projects across California.
It’s a big win for public transit advocates, many of whom have spent decades stumping for not just high-speed rail, but better rail service overall.
Thankfully this country was already building momentum back up for investing in its rail system, with a focus on faster trains.
Brightline is also building what it calls “the nation’s first true high-speed rail network” between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Positioning itself as the “Etsy of food,” HomeCooks has grown rapidly and today serves around 7,000 customers.
Quick spoiler alert here: At 25 slides, this deck is way too long, but it’s also one of the best pitch decks I’ve seen in a hot minute.
Slides in this deckThe company shared its 25-slide deck in full, without redactions or edits.
In this deck, HomeCooks shows that it has figured out how to make this work.
In the rest of this teardown, we’ll take a look at three things HomeCooks could have improved or done differently, along with its full pitch deck!
Benefitting from that long-term trend is SME-focused, customized merchandise startupBizay, which has been able to raise a significant funding round, even in this relatively flat market of 2023.
The round was led by previous lead investor Indico Capital Partners which was once again joined by fellow Portugal investors Iberis Capital and Lince Capital.
That takes Bizay’s total funding to €72 million ($79 million), though, when asked what they think the company’s valuation is now, a spokesperson demurred.
What’s also partly going on out there is an explosion in the creative economy, where — for instance— influencers are hooking up their various social platforms to customized merchandise platforms in order to, frnakly make some damn money.
We believe this can be replicated in the US market and we are backing the team again to execute that expansion.
As promised, Apple has officially removed the Watch Series 9 from its online shop.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is similarly unavailable.
You can, however, still buy the entry-level Apple Watch SE, likely owing to the product’s relatively limited on-board health metrics.
This includes pausing sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 from Apple.com starting December 21, and from Apple retail locations after December 24.
Should the order stand, Apple will continue to take all measures to return Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to customers in the U.S. as soon as possible.
Intuitive Machines is pushing back the mission of its first lunar lander to mid-February in coordination with launch provider SpaceX, the company said earlier this week.
The lunar lander must launch from a specific launch site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Launch Complex 39A, because it needs to be fueled with oxygen and methane propellants prior to launch.
While Intuitive Machines did not specify an exact launch window, it’s looking increasingly likely that it could coincide with the planned landing of another privately developed lunar lander.
Overall, the new launch window is a negligible delay for Intuitive Machines, which is aiming to make lunar access a cornerstone of its business.
Intuitive Machines is also setting up business segments related to orbital services, like satellite servicing and refueling, providing data services for the moon, and the sale of other space products.
