With LakeFlow, Databricks users will soon be able to build their data pipelines and ingest data from databases like MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server and Oracle, as well as enterprise applications like Salesforce, Dynamics, Sharepoint, Workday, NetSuite and Google Analytics. In a way, getting data into a data warehouse or data lake should indeed be table stakes because the real value creation happens down the line. The first is LakeFlow Connect, which provides the connectors between the different data sources and the Databricks service. It’s fully integrated with Databricks’ Unity Data Catalog data governance solution and relies in part of technology from Arcion. Databricks is rolling out the LakeFlow service in phases.

You could spend it training a generative AI model. See Databricks’ DBRX, a new generative AI model announced today akin to OpenAI’s GPT series and Google’s Gemini. Customers can privately host DBRX using Databricks’ Model Serving offering, Rao suggested, or they can work with Databricks to deploy DBRX on the hardware of their choosing. It’s an easy way for customers to get started with the Databricks Mosaic AI generative AI tools. And plenty of generative AI models come closer to the commonly understood definition of open source than DBRX.

“Databricks Continues Its Impressive Growth with $1.6B in Annual Revenue”

That’s impressive revenue growth no matter what time period we’re talking about — but especially these days. Those prior disclosures allow us to frame Databricks’ recent growth cleanly. Partially fueled by the rapid ascent of Databricks SQL, Databricks’ growth rate of more than 50% makes it a one-off company in enterprise software growth terms among companies of its size. Among public software companies tracked by the Bessemer Venture Partners’ Cloud Index, the fastest growing public software company today is SentinelOne, which grew at 42% in its most recently reported quarter. That presumes, of course, that its growth rate continues to increase and doesn’t decelerate too much further.
