“Save Drafts and Snap Photos Instantly with Threads”

Threads Gettyimages 1524134312
Threads, the Twitter-like app from Instagram, is rolling out the ability for users to save a draft and take photos within the app. The new features shape Threads into more of a competitor to X (formerly Twitter), which has had drafts and a camera shortcut for as long as we can remember. However, Threads only lets you save one draft at a time, whereas X lets you save multiple. Threads users can now start writing out a post that they may want to share later, and then swipe down to save it as a draft. The launch of the camera shortcut comes as app researcher Nima Owji indicated that X might be looking to adopt Threads’ carousel format for displaying images.

“Enhance Your Insta-DM Game: Edit Sent Messages Up to 15 Minutes Later!”

Instagram Edit Dms
Instagram announced today that it’s rolling out the ability for users to edit their direct messages for up to 15 minutes after sending them. The ability to edit your DMs lets you fix a typo or change things around if your message doesn’t quite sound right. To edit a message, you need to press and hold it, and then then choose “edit” from the dropdown menu. The feature works similar to Apple’s edit feature for iMessage, which launched nearly two years ago. Instagram also recently started allowing all users to turn read receipts off, for all of their chats or specific ones.

Bookmark Your Favorite Posts with Threads’ New Feature!

While the bookmarking icon is within easy reach on X at the bottom of the post, the new feature on Threads is a bit more hidden. That’s because Instagram is rolling out new Threads features in phases over time, not to all of the Threads user base at once. Bookmarks aren’t the only new feature being spotted by Threads users. Another Threads user noticed they’ve now begun to receive notifications from Threads and Facebook in their Instagram notifications. In another effort to grow its app, Threads also began testing a cross-posting feature from Facebook to Threads, the company confirmed last week.

Threads begins trials on in-app camera shortcut and unpublished documents

Meta said Thursday that it has started to test two “most requested” features: drafts and in-app camera. You can write the post you might want to post later in the composer, and just swipe down to save the draft. The Threads app also shows a different composer icon in the bottom bar when there is a saved draft that you haven’t posted yet. Along with the new drafts feature, Mark Zuckerberg posted a photo through the new camera shortcut that opens in the composer. This shortcut makes it easier if you want to quickly post a photo to Threads.
