Google has announced exciting updates for Pixel users, including the launch of new features and the expansion of existing ones. Most notably, the tech giant has introduced the Thermometer app, now available for Pixel 8 Pro users. This innovative app allows users to take their body temperature, or anyone else’s, using a forehead scan. The readings can even be saved to your Fitbit profile for a more comprehensive understanding of your health.
In its initial release, Google had revealed that the Thermometer app could measure the temperature of objects like milk bottles and coffee. However, it has since expanded its capabilities to include body temperature scanning. This update was made possible after the FDA approved the app’s ability to effectively measure body temperatures, paving the way for its release to the public.
Another noteworthy update is the launch of “Circle to Search,” a feature previously unveiled by Google. Available for Pixel 8 and 8 Pro users, this feature allows for seamless searching using gestures like circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping. Google aims to make it easier and more natural for users to engage with their search engine whenever a question arises, be it while watching a video or browsing social media.
For instance, imagine watching a food video featuring a popular Korean corn dog. With the Circle to Search feature, one could simply circle the video and ask “Why are these so popular?” and a search result will pop up, eliminating the need to switch to a browser or take a screenshot for future reference. Additionally, the feature will also be available for the new Galaxy S24 Series smartphones on January 31.
In addition, Google is bringing its generative AI Magic Compose technology to Pixel 8 and 8 Pro devices. This feature utilizes artificial intelligence to help users rewrite drafted messages in different styles or make them appear more professional and concise.
Moreover, Google is expanding its Photomoji feature, previously exclusive to newer Pixels, to include the Pixel 3a and all newer models. This feature uses AI to transform your favorite photos into expressive reactions, also known as “photomojis,” to use in your conversations.
All these exciting updates will start rolling out today, giving Pixel users even more reasons to appreciate their devices. With innovative features like the Thermometer app, Circle to Search, and Photomoji, Google continues to push the boundaries of technology and make our lives easier and more connected.
