Bookmark Your Favorite Posts with Threads’ New Feature!

While the bookmarking icon is within easy reach on X at the bottom of the post, the new feature on Threads is a bit more hidden. That’s because Instagram is rolling out new Threads features in phases over time, not to all of the Threads user base at once. Bookmarks aren’t the only new feature being spotted by Threads users. Another Threads user noticed they’ve now begun to receive notifications from Threads and Facebook in their Instagram notifications. In another effort to grow its app, Threads also began testing a cross-posting feature from Facebook to Threads, the company confirmed last week.

Threads, the popular app from Instagram that has often been compared to Twitter, is undergoing some exciting transformations. The latest updates to Threads include the addition of trending topics, an in-app camera, drafts, and a new bookmarking feature which allows for more discreet saving of posts compared to the public “like” option.

Bookmarking is a well-received feature among former users of Twitter and those who consume a lot of news. It allows users to create a curated collection of links and posts to refer back to at a later time. This can be helpful for remembering longer articles to read or important information that one may need to recall. On Twitter’s paid subscription service, users even have the option to organize their bookmarks into different folders for easier access.

On Threads, the bookmarking icon is not as easily accessible as on Twitter. Instead of being able to save a post directly from the main timeline, users will need to tap on the three-dot menu and select the “Save” option. To access saved posts at a later time, users can head to the app’s Settings screen.

Some users have already expressed their disappointment in not having access to the new bookmarking feature or even the recently launched trending topics. This is due to Instagram rolling out updates to Threads in phases, rather than to the entire user base at once. This is not surprising considering Threads has fewer engineering resources compared to the rest of Meta. However, it is worth noting that Threads still boasts a considerable user base of 130 million monthly active users.

But bookmarks aren’t the only new addition that Threads users have noticed. Some have also started receiving notifications from Threads and Facebook within their Instagram notifications. In an effort to expand its reach, Threads has also been testing a cross-posting feature from Facebook to Threads, as confirmed by the company last week.
