Breaking News: Discord is Back Online Following Morning Outage
By TechCrunch Reporter
After an early morning outage, users can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Discord confirms that its service is back up and running. The issue, which occurred at the same time as other social media outages including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, has now been resolved.
“This incident has been resolved,” Discord’s status page reads. “We are reviewing the updated rate limiting that triggered the initial session start issues, as well as the scaling targets for the internal service which limited guild loading during initial recovery.”
According to third-party monitoring website DownDetector, the issues began at around 10:50 AM ET. Users reported difficulties in loading messages and accessing the service altogether. However, Discord says it is currently monitoring the recovery of multiple systems to avoid any future disruptions.
The outages on Super Tuesday, a critical day for the U.S. primary elections, may have made it more challenging for candidates to communicate with voters and encourage them to head to polling stations.
In an update, Discord has stated, “The issue has been resolved, and we’re back online and fully operational.”
Update 05/05/2024 11:45 AM ET: The article has been updated to reflect that Discord has solved the issue and is back online.
