“Pixel 8 to Receive Game-Changing On-Device AI-Powered Features from Google”

Google announced today that it will soon roll out on-device AI-powered features such as recording summaries and smart replies on the Pixel 8. These features will be based on Gemini Nano, a small-sized model Google released last year, primed to run on devices. The company announced these features last October during the Pixel 8 launch. In January, Google introduced “Circle to Search” for select Pixel and Samsung Devices. The company announced this week that more Pixel and Sasmung phones along with select tablets will get Circle to Search feature.

Google has exciting news for Pixel 8 users – on-device AI-powered features are on the way! These cutting-edge capabilities, including recording summaries and smart replies, will be based on Google’s small-sized model, Gemini Nano, and optimized to run directly on devices.

According to the company, these features will be released as a developer preview in the next Pixel feature drop, after being announced during the Pixel 8 launch last October. Up until now, Gemini Nano-powered features were only available on the Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S24.

“Running large language models on phones with different memory specs can result in varied user experiences. That’s why we’ve thoroughly tested and validated Gemini Nano on the Pixel 8. We’re eager to offer the opportunity for more enthusiasts and developers to try out this technology and provide valuable feedback for even more innovation,” stated the company.

While Google has primarily focused on cloud-based AI features for mobile devices, they’re now expanding their on-device capabilities. In January, they revealed “Circle to Search” for select Pixel and Samsung devices. And just this week, they announced that more Pixel and Samsung phones, as well as select tablets, will have access to this useful feature. Plus, Circle to Search will also receive an update with instant translation functionality for on-screen content.
