Butler App introduces new features: Shared Albums, HD Photos, and Increased File Sharing

Meta announced on Tuesday it’s rolling out the ability for Messenger users to create shared albums in chats, send photos in high-definition, and share larger files up to 100MB in size. With these new features, Messenger is targeting people who tend to create shared albums or share HD images via services like Google Drive. Now, users can create albums of photos and videos in group chats, whether it’s to organize photos of a recent spring break or grandma’s 80th birthday celebration. The launch of the new feature follows Meta’s rollout of support for HD photos on WhatsApp back in September 2023. The new features are rolling out on mobile to all Messenger users.

On Tuesday, Meta announced the expansion of new features for Messenger, allowing users to create shared albums, send high-definition photos, and share larger files up to 100MB in size. This update is specifically targeting those who frequently create shared albums or share HD images through other platforms like Google Drive.

Previously, Messenger users were only able to view a list of photos shared in a specific chat, without the ability to group or organize them. With the new update, users can now create albums of photos and videos in group chats – perfect for organizing memories from a recent spring break or a family celebration. To create an album in a group chat, simply select multiple photos from the chat composer and tap “create album”. Alternatively, you can also create an album by long-pressing a photo in the chat. If you want to add more photos to an existing album, simply tap the “Add to album” option.

All members of a chat can now view, add, delete, and download photos and videos in an album. To access an album, simply tap the “Media” button in the chat.

The introduction of shared albums is sure to be a welcome addition for users, as this feature is not yet available on Meta’s other messaging services, WhatsApp and Instagram DMs.

In addition to shared albums, Messenger is now offering users the ability to send high-definition photos. After selecting an image from the chat composer, users can now toggle the “HD” option. Multiple photos can also be sent in HD by tapping on them. This new feature follows Meta’s rollout of HD photo support on WhatsApp in September 2023.

Additionally, Messenger is now offering an alternative to email for sending large files. Users can now send Word, PDF, Excel, and zip files directly in chats by tapping the “+” button in a chat and selecting a file from their device.

Another new feature announced today is the ability to connect with other users by scanning a QR code. This eliminates the need to manually enter someone’s name or number to start a conversation on the app.

These new features are currently rolling out to all Messenger users on mobile devices. Get ready to create and share memories in a whole new way!
