iPad Calculator: Simplify Your Math with Ease

One way to know for sure that you’re at a developer conference: The crowd gets really excited when you announce a new Calculator app. The addition of the app got (by far) the biggest applause pop at WWDC 2024 so far. The biggest arrival here is the addition of Math Notes. The addition feature effect does the math for you. At once, the feature makes iPad an even more interesting option is the academic segment, though plenty of teachers will no doubt balk at an app that does all of the work for users.

At a developer conference, one surefire way to know that you’re in the right place is when a simple announcement of a new Calculator app elicits a massive burst of excitement from the crowd. That was the case at WWDC 2024, where the addition of this app received the largest applause thus far. Of course, this company still has an hour or so to go, plenty of time to reveal even more of its newest, most intelligent features.

iOS’ trusty tips calculating app is finally making its way to the bigger screen. With the additional real estate, the company has been able to introduce features that simply wouldn’t fit onto the smaller iPhone screen. One of the most noteworthy additions is Math Notes, which effectively takes care of all the calculations for you.

For those in the academic sector, this feature elevates the iPad to an even more intriguing option. However, there may be some resistance from teachers who balk at the idea of an app doing all the work for its users.

Simply draw a formula using the Apple Pencil and the on-board AI will take care of the challenging task of solving the problem. Apple briefly mentioned during today’s event that this feature will also be available on macOS Sequoia. Both it and iPadOS 15 are expected to launch later this year.

In addition to the exciting news about the Calculator app, Apple also shared that VisionOS 2 is in the works for the Vision Pro, along with updates to the Photos app.
