“Apple News Explores a Game Resembling NYT Connections in Newly Launched Feature”

Apple News Ios Icon
Apple News is testing a new game for iOS 17.5 called Quartiles, which requires players to organize a grid of 20 syllables into 5 four-syllable words. Spotted by Gadget Hacks, the interface for Quartiles looks a lot like the New York Times’ newest hit, Connections. Did Apple News sherlock the New York Times? While it may appear odd for a news aggregator to continue investing in games, that’s exactly what has been working for the New York Times. But given that the New York Times is low-key running a gaming studio now, it’s not a bad idea for Apple to churn out some new, preferably square-shaped games.

. “Revamping the Supply Chain of Recycled Wood: Cambium’s Mission”

The global demand for wood could grow by 54% between 2010 and 2050, according to a study by the World Resources Institute. While some building materials like steel get consistently recycled back into the supply chain, wood does not. Cambium looks to build the supply chain that keeps wood from being wasted by connecting those with already-been-used wood to the businesses and folks that need it. “We’re building a better value chain where you can use local material, you can use salvaged material, and all of that is connected through our technology,” Christensen said. And we do that in a really efficient and cost competitive way.”Demand for more sustainable wood has been growing in recent years, Christensen said, but before Cambium there wasn’t a good system to find the recycled wood.

Possible options: 1. The Threat to Tesla’s Dominance: An Affordable Electric Vehicle is Key 2. Tesla’s Competitive Edge in Jeopardy Without a Budget-Friendly EV 3. Will Tesla’s Reign End Without an Affordable Electric Car? 4. The Importance of an Economical EV

Elon Musk’s decision to green light a robotaxi over an affordable EV might cost the company its lead. Last week, Musk reportedly canned the effort in favor of a robotaxi, the sort of pie-in-the-sky project that defined his first decade at the helm. Tesla was reportedly on the cusp of building a $25,000 EV. Given flagging sales of the company’s existing product line, it would have been a welcome shot in the arm. It also would have given the company a product to hold its ground against a predicted onslaught of inexpensive Chinese EVs.

Introducing Fairphone’s Convenient and Repairable Earbuds

The right to repair has been a hot topic for several years now, hitting a kind of critical mass with domestic and international legislation. Advocates note that these proposals give users more control over their own property, while expanding products’ shelf life and reducing e-waste. Fairphone is, perhaps, the most prominent hardware company to make repairability the foundation of its consumer electronic design ethos, rather than a simple afterthought. In the consumer electronics world, right to repair has largely focused on handsets and PCs. But anything that can help reduce e-waste and give users more control over these products is probably a net positive.
