TikTok, the popular social media app known for its short-form videos, is expanding its features with a new app dedicated to sharing photos. According to screenshots shared by users, the app may be named TikTok Notes. The company has also confirmed that they are indeed working on such an app.
Recently, TikTok users have been receiving notifications about the upcoming TikTok Notes app. The message states that the new app will be launched soon and will allow users to share their photos. Already existing photo posts on TikTok will automatically be shared on the new app, unless users choose otherwise.

A spokesperson from TikTok has confirmed the development of the app, but it is not yet available for public use. The spokesperson stated that the company is continuously working to improve the user experience and is exploring ways to empower its community to share their creativity using photos and text in a dedicated space.
A placeholder marketing image found on a TikTok-owned URL, photo.tiktok.com (web archive link), also suggests the name “TikTok Notes” for the new app.
Last month, code and language found in the TikTok APK file, which is used for Android installations, hinted at a photo-sharing app called TikTok Photos. However, the recent pop-up notifications within the TikTok app suggest that the company may have changed the name of the upcoming app.
Both TikTok and Meta (formerly known as Facebook) are competing fiercely for dominance in the social media space. While TikTok is expanding its features to include photo-sharing, Meta has recently launched a vertical-first video player for Facebook.
In addition to its signature short-form videos, TikTok has been experimenting with longer videos up to 30 minutes and text-based posts like X and Threads. This shows the company’s determination to stay ahead in the social media game by offering a diverse range of formats.
