Full Glass Wine, a brand acquisition management startup that specializes in acquiring wine marketplaces, has raised $14 million in a Series A round to continue acquiring DTC (direct-to-consumer) wine marketplaces, aiming to lead the DTC wine market. The deal is Full Glass Wine’s third acquisition in a year and will enable the startup to expand its subscription-based model. DTC wine brands sell wine directly to wine lovers, bypassing traditional distribution channels“By uniting Winc, Wine Insiders, and Bright Cellars, we offer a one-stop shop for all things wine, catering to a wider range of wine drinkers than most traditional retailers, grocers, or single-brand DTC companies,” Neha Kumar, co-founder and COO of Full Glass Wine, told TechCrunch. “However, there are also some misconceptions consumers might have about DTC wine. “We’re looking at a total of at least a few dozen employees now at Full Glass Wine,” Kumar said.

Acquisition of EarlyDay by Wonderschool, backed by a16z

Wonderschool, a startup that provides software and support to help individuals and local governments spin up childcare businesses, has acquired EarlyDay, which operates an early childhood educator marketplace. TechCrunch has covered Wonderschool since its infancy, including both of its seed rounds and its Series A (led by Andreessen Horowitz). Back in early 2022, Wonderschool raised a $25 million Series B at a $165 million post-money valuation, according to Crunchbase data. Indeed, a quick search for “childcare crisis” will show you just how worried parents of young kids are and how strapped they are for affordable options. If the Wonderschool-EarlyDay deal works out, we could see an increase in the supply of childcare services.

Havenly, an Interior Design Startup, Joins Forces with Home Decor Retailer The Citizenry.

Online interior design startup Havenly is acquiring artisan home decor startup The Citizenry, the company announced today. Launched in 2014, The Citizenry works with artisans from around the world to produce limited-edition runs of handcrafted home goods. By acquiring The Citizenry, Havenly is expanding its offerings in furniture, textiles and home decor. “The Citizenry works with master artisans and heritage manufacturers to bring to market beautifully designed, globally-inspired products that are ethically crafted – from rugs and bedding, to decorative baskets and accents. As for The Citizenry, the startup most recently raised $20 million in Series B funding in June 2021.

Dunzo Under Consideration for Acquisition by Flipkart

Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has held discussions in recent weeks about potentially acquiring Dunzo, the hyperlocal delivery startup backed by Reliance Retail, three sources familiar with the matter told TechCrunch. The acquisition talks follow a turbulent year at Dunzo, which has been struggling to raise cash and make staff payroll. Flipkart is skeptical about precisely what all it will be able to take over if it were to acquire Dunzo. Reliance Retail, the largest investor in Dunzo, has also not approved the deal. Flipkart and Dunzo didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday evening.
