Privacy-focused consumer tech company DuckDuckGo launched a new Privacy Pro subscription on Thursday that bundles a VPN service, personal information removal, and identity theft restoration.
This is the company’s first move towards a subscription service built into the DuckDuckGo browser.
With personal information removal service, DuckDuckGo scans dozens of data broker sites to find details like your name and address.
(At that time, Removaly’s founder, Kyle Krzeski, posted on X that a privacy company acquired the startup without naming it.)
The third feature of DuckDuckGo’s privacy pro plan is identity theft restoration, where an advisor would help you recover your identity-related loss around the clock.
Since 2022, Youverify has expanded its real-time business verification coverage to 145 jurisdictions across 48 countries.
Across these countries, Youverify processes 4 million monthly applications for over 3,500 businesses with 800 active clients.
Additionally, the platform’s capacity to verify IDs has expanded from 400 million to 5 billion people — as well as 600 million businesses across various industries such as gaming, travel, healthcare, and telecommunications.
“Individuals and businesses can verify their identity, registration status and ownership using their government data through Youverify.
In addition, we launched our anti-money laundering and risk classification product to address some of these industries,” the CEO noted.
startup, takes an all-in view when it comes to identity security in an organization.
So the best way to protect against malicious exploits is to secure identity authentication between any and all of them.
“We believe we can actually be that focused identity security layer that covers all the silos,” CEO and co-founder Hed Kovetz said in an interview.
As those familiar with security technology know, the space can be sliced and diced into many different domains and approaches.
Each point of interactivity essentially involves authentication between apps and therein lies the challenge: each of these can become a potential vulnerability.
Okta, the identity and access management company, is acquiring security firm Spera.
Spera — which my colleague Frederic has covered previously — was co-founded several years ago by entrepreneurs Dor Fledel and Ariel Kadyshevitch.
Spera, which has about 25 employees, had raised $10 million prior to the Okta acquisition.
Okta sees Spera enabling its customers to better assess the security posture of their identity infrastructure as well as their apps and services — and attracting new customers to the Okta platform.
“With Spera, we’ll equip our customers with richer insights and technology to elevate their identity security posture management and quickly identify, detect and remediate risks,” the blog post continues.
