“Disney Presents a Sophisticated Answer to VR’s Movement Issue”

Disney Imagineer Makes History Disney Parks
I’ll never forget trying out an early version of the virtual reality treadmill in a hotel suite many E3s ago. The system, which features a concave platform and slippery shoes, was clever enough to influence Ready Player One’s take on the space. HoloTile — which recently made its YouTube debut at the end of a video honoring Disney Research fellow, Larry Smoot – is an extremely clever and honestly quite elegant solution to some of these issues. “I can walk on this omni directional floor in any direction I want,” Smoot says in the video. If it’s going to see the light of day, it seems likely that it will be as part of a Disney Parks VR experience.

It has also committed to applying “fair, objective, transparent, and non-discriminatory” eligibility criteria to grant NFC access to third parties — which will have to conclude an ADP license agreement to gain access. The Apple Pay competition saga dates back several years at this point. The Apple Pay case pre-dates ex ante competition legislation the bloc has since enacted and which Apple is subject to; having been designated, in September, as a so-called “gatekeeper” under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). And although Apple’s payment tech, Apple Pay, has not been designated a “core platform service” the iOS App Store has.

The app, which includes instant cash offers and pickup, promises an easier way to sell your stuff. That led to TipTop’s first product, TipTop Cash, which makes it easy to sell the items you own. “TipTop Cash works like a reverse Postmates,” Lehmann explains. (Due to higher fraud risks, these may not be instant cash offers, however.) When they no longer needed the phone, they could unload it through TipTop Cash and buy their new one.
