Amazon Prime at an Unprecedented Low Cost: Testing in India

Amazon is piloting a new Prime tier in India, offering popular benefits like free two-day delivery and ad-supported Prime Video in standard definition for an affordable price.

Since 2016, Amazon’s Prime membership has been available in India for $12/year–until December 2021 when the price rose to $18/year. In comparison, U.S. customers can access Prime at a rate of either $139 annually or just under $15 per month.

Amazon Prime Lite


Amazon offers Prime Lite memberships with a variety of benefits listed on their website.

Amazon India has added Prime Lite membership to its website, listing benefits and incorporating the new tier into its Terms & Conditions.

Just weeks after introducing Prime Gaming in India, Amazon has rolled out a new offering exclusively for Prime and Prime Video subscribers.

The company had no comment Saturday.
