The firm has now released a new mobile app, called Arc Search, that aims to focus on the search experience.

Most notably, the tech giant announced that Pixel 8 Pro users will be able to use the phone’s Thermometer app to take their temperature, or someone else’s, with a forehead scan.
When Google first announced the Thermometer app, the tech giant said you could use it to take the temperature of things like your baby’s milk bottle or your coffee.
Now, the company says users can use the app to scan their own body temperature.
Google also announced that it’s launching “Circle to Search, a feature that it unveiled last week, to Pixel 8 and 8 Pro users.
E-commerce site Etsy today launched “Gift Mode,” a new AI-powered feature to match you with tailored gift ideas based on specific preferences.
Gift Mode is essentially an online quiz that asks about who you’re shopping for (sibling, parent, child), the occasion (birthday, anniversary, get well), and the recipient’s interests.
At launch, the feature has 15 interests to choose from, including crafting, fashion, sports, video games, pets, and more.
It then generates a series of gift guides inspired by your choices, pulling options from the over 100 million items listed on the platform.
Etsy hopes Gift Mode will relieve the stress that comes with selecting the perfect present.
Google’s Chrome web browser is getting an infusion of AI technology in the latest release.
In addition to the writing assistant, AI can also be used to help organize tab groups and personalize your browser.
Chrome’s Tab Groups feature allows users who keep many tabs open to manage them by organizing them into groups.
With the new Tab Organizer, Chrome will automatically suggest and create groups based on the tabs you already have open.
To access these features, you’ll sign into Chrome, select “Settings” from the three-dot menu, and then navigate to the “Experimental AI” page.
Another interesting new feature in iOS 17.3 is something called stolen device protection.
Once again, the passcode can be used if Face ID fails — thieves can also register their own face in Face ID if they have the device passcode.

When it’s turned on, some actions will require Face ID or Touch ID biometric authentication, such as accessing stored passwords and credit cards.
In addition to requiring Face ID or Touch ID authentication, changing your Apple ID password, changing your passcode and turning off stolen device protection also require a security delay.
Telegram is rolling out a bunch of upgrades as part of its January feature drop including “view-once” video and audio messages, the ability to pause recording while sending a video or an audio message, and new read-time controls.
Now, the company is extending this feature to voice and video messages.
Users can hit the mic icon to start recording and then pull up to tap on the “view-once” icon to allow the recipient to hear the voice message or look at the video message just once.
Additionally, Telegram is rolling out the ability to pause and resume recording for voice and video messages through the same menu.
Telegram is also adding a way for people to see when the recipient reads your message in one-on-one private chats.
Apple announced today that Apple Music subscribers now have access to collaborative playlists with the launch of iOS 17.3.
When users are in a car and streaming music through Apple Music, other trusted iPhone devices will get an invite to join the session.
Listeners can then control the music from their own devices, even if they don’t have an Apple Music subscription.
The launch of iOS 17.3 also brings Apple’s new Stolen Device Protection feature, which helps prevent thieves from accessing your information.

Journal app Day One is introducing Shared Journals, a new social feature that lets you share stories and memories with your friends and family.
As the creator of a shared journal, you can remove members, and as a member, you have the option to leave Shared Journals.
To get started with Shared Journals, you need to tap the app’s upper left menu where you will see a new “Shared” section.
Then, you will need to click “New Shared Journal” and customize and name your new Shared Journal.
Once you publish the first entry in the Shared Journal, it will appear in the “Timeline” view for the Shared Journal.
TikTok has been experimenting with an auto scrolling mechanic for months now, allowing you to watch TikTok hands-free.
To use the auto scroll feature, you hold down on a video on TikTok’s For You page – similar to if you want to repost a video – and click the auto scroll button.
If you land on a photo post, however, the scrolling will stop until you swipe through all the photos.
To turn off the feature, hold down on your phone screen again and select “Manual scroll.”Since auto scrolling is still being tested, the feature is only available to a select number of TikTok users.

TikTok is testing a new “AI Song” feature that uses AI to create songs based on prompts that users enter, the company confirmed to TechCrunch.
The company told TechCrunch that AI Song uses Bloom, a large language model, to create lyrics based on text prompts.
