“Revolutionizing TV Technology: Displace’s Innovative Wall-Mounted Models and Advanced AI Functions”

The Displace wireless TV, that sticks to walls, plans new models and new AI featuresAt CES 2023 a startup hardware company called Displace launched the 55-inch ‘Display Flex’, a “wireless” $3,000 4K OLED TV which sticks to walls without a traditional mounting. To begin with, the new ‘Display Mini’ will be a smaller 27 inch TV and designed for a kitchen or bathroom space. The Displace devices will also have a Thermal camera built-in that has potential health applications (like reading your body heat maps to detect inflammation etc. While most consumers are fine with a traditional TV setup, it’s businesses that need to be able to mount a TV on a wall, or even a window, as Displace is capable of doing. And should that fail, the screen will gradually lower itself using a zipline – like a spider walking down a web – from the wall.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in 2023, the innovative startup Displace shook the market with the introduction of their revolutionary 55-inch ‘Display Flex’ television. This $3,000 4K OLED TV breaks the mold of traditional mounting, instead using wireless technology to stick directly onto walls.

“We wanted to change the game for TV placement,” says Displace founder and CEO Balaji Krishna. And it seems they have succeeded, bringing a whole new level of convenience and sleek design to the industry.

Now, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, I had the opportunity to sit down with Krishna and discuss the future of Displace. “We have exciting plans in the works,” he tells me. “We are currently developing new models and implementing advanced AI features into our screens.”

The first new model set to hit the market is the ‘Display Mini’, a smaller 27-inch TV perfect for kitchen or bathroom spaces.

Krishna also teased upcoming technologies that have yet to be revealed, including an “AI-powered shopping engine” that allows viewers to make purchases directly from ads, as well as a contactless payment reader integrated into the device.

“Our goal is to not only provide a stunning viewing experience, but also enhance the overall convenience for our customers,” explains Krishna. And it seems they are on the cusp of achieving just that.

In addition to these exciting updates, Displace has also incorporated a thermal camera into their TVs with potential health applications. This innovative feature can read body heat maps and potentially detect inflammation.

While these new capabilities have yet to be verified, Displace plans to begin shipping their pre-orders in the coming months. “We have been working hard to make design improvements and simplify our processes, such as reducing the weight of our screens,” Krishna shares.

The company also has plans for a “small series A” fundraising round of $5 million, a sure sign of their confidence in the success of their product.

According to Krishna, the majority of interest in Displace has come from businesses such as art studios, museums, and even embassies. While traditional TV setups may suffice for most consumers, businesses often require the ability to mount a TV on a wall or window, a task easily accomplished by Displace’s technology.

But how exactly does this wireless TV adhere to walls? It utilizes a vacuum suction system to securely attach, even to dry walls. And for power, the Display Flex uses swappable batteries, eliminating the need for unsightly cords. The TV itself is portless, instead streaming all content from a base station, similar to the setup of LG’s OLED M.

Not only can the Display Flex be mounted on ceramic and glass surfaces, its vacuum system also allows it to stay attached for up to 10 months. And in the rare case of a malfunction, the screen will gracefully lower itself down using a zipline system, much like a spider walking down a web.

Displace has truly revolutionized the way we think about TV placement, and with their constant innovation, the future looks even more promising. Keep an eye out for their upcoming products and prepare to be amazed by the possibilities of wireless television technology.
