“VisionOS 1.1: Apple’s Latest Update Introduces Enhanced Personas”

Apple released VisionOS 1.1 on Thursday with the most notable feature being improved personas of users. Additionally, users can also now set up their personas without holding the device through Settings>Persona and selecting “Hands-free Capture” mode after initial steps for setup. The new version of VisionOS also introduces Mobile Device Management (MDM), for enterprises to manage their devices. This enables admins to set up devices for custom configuration, install apps at scale, and perform a remote erase of the device. “We know that in order to unlock all of [the power of the Apple Vision Pro], businesses are going to want to manage these devices at scale.

Apple released VisionOS 1.1 on Thursday, offering users improved personas and exciting new features. The latest update boasts enhancements to hair and makeup representation, neck and mouth depiction, and EyeSight rendering for a more lifelike virtual experience.

One of the most exciting features of VisionOS 1.1 is the hands-free capture mode, allowing users to set up their personas without having to hold their devices. Simply navigate to Settings, select Persona, and toggle on Hands-free Capture mode after the initial setup. This makes creating and customizing your persona even easier and more efficient.

In addition, VisionOS 1.1 introduces Mobile Device Management (MDM) for enterprise use. This allows businesses to manage their devices, set up custom configurations, install apps at scale, and remotely erase devices. The support for enterprise device management was announced by the company just last month.

“We know that in order to unlock all of [the power of the Apple Vision Pro], businesses are going to want to manage these devices at scale. So the good news is we’ve got a lot of great technology to bring over to Vision Pro in that regard,” explained Jeremy Butcher, worldwide product marketing for enterprise at Apple, to TechCrunch.

But that’s not all – users can now delete system apps directly from the Home View, making it easier to customize their experience. Improvements have also been made to the discovery and connection process for Mac Virtual Display, and the virtual keyboard now boasts better text input accuracy. Plus, updated closed caption controls make viewing Apple Immersive videos a more enjoyable experience.

As the platform continues to grow, developers are working hard to bring more apps to VisionOS. Currently, there are over 1,000 native apps available on the App Store, with more on the way.
