On Tuesday, Spotify made an exciting announcement for audiobook lovers in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. The popular streaming service is expanding its free audiobook perk to these markets, giving users 15 hours of monthly listening time. But that’s not all – Spotify is also adding 50,000 new titles to its audiobook catalog, bringing the total number of titles to 250,000. This perk is already available to users in the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
This expansion comes just two months after Spotify revealed that it is now the second-largest audiobook provider, with only Amazon-owned Audible ahead of them. Since launching the free audiobook service in November of last year, Spotify users have already listened to over 150,000 titles – an impressive number in such a short amount of time.
So how can you start listening to audiobooks on Spotify? Simply open the app and head to the Home feed, or use the search tab to find what you’re looking for. And if you have a Premium subscription, any audiobook marked as “Included in Premium” is available for you to enjoy. Plus, you can easily track your listening hours in the app’s settings.
If 15 hours of listening isn’t enough for you, there’s an option to purchase additional 10-hour allocations. In Canada, this will cost CAD $14.99, in Ireland it’s €12.99, and in New Zealand, it’s NZD $19.99.
In the U.S., Spotify has recently launched a new plan that gives free users access to its full audiobook collection for just $9.99 per month. This plan includes 15 hours of listening, making it a viable alternative for those who may not be as interested in Spotify’s music service. And unlike Audible’s $14.95 per month subscription, which only allows users to purchase one title with a credit, Spotify’s $9.99 plan lets users listen to 15 hours across their entire audiobook catalog – enough time to enjoy more than one title.
