Light, the maker of the minimalist phone with an e-paper screen, is announcing its newest model, the Light Phone III.
Like its earlier counterpart, the Light Phone III offers a simple black-and-white display, without access to social media, the internet or email.
Between the first two models, the Light Phone I and Light Phone II, the company has shipped over 100,000 devices, with the latter accounting for roughly two-thirds of those sales.
The Light Phone III will target the larger demographic that are already using the non-smartphone as their main device.

At Apple’s WWDC 2024, the company revealed a handy new feature for Apple TV+ called InSight.
Apple TV+’s new feature appears to be similar to Amazon’s X-Ray technology, where Fire TV users get an overview of actor bios and behind-the-scenes information while watching TV shows and movies.
To use “InSight,” Apple TV+ subscribers can use their remote to bring up a display with actor names and character information in real-time.
Apple also announced several updates to tvOS, the software running on Apple TV.
According to the company, there will be better vocal clarity over background noise, music, and action scenes on Apple TV 4K.
The company on Wednesday introduced a beta of what it’s calling ‘AI teammates,’ in a bid to help move work inside an organization.
“We believe that the future of work is humans not just working with humans, but humans also working with AI,” Costello told TechCrunch.
“The work graph enables us to tell AI not just how work happens, but how work happens in this specific instance.
So when we embed AI teammates into a particular workflow, they’re given a specific job to do.
“We have found that we’re able to embed AI teammates to remove a lot of administrative work and tracking work within these systems very quickly, with high degrees of success.
Bot creators now have a new way to make money with Poe, the Quora-owned AI chatbot platform.
The addition follows an earlier October 2023 of a revenue-sharing program that would give bot creators a cut of the earnings when their users subscribed to Poe’s premium product.
Today we’re introducing a new way for model developers and bot creators to generate revenue on @poe_platform: price per message!
The offering is currently available to U.S. bot creators only but will expand globally in the future.
Alongside the per-message revenue model, Poe also launched an enhanced analytics dashboard that displays average earnings for creators’ bots across paywalls, subscriptions, and messages.
Reddit is introducing a new ad format that looks similar to posts made by users on the platform, the company announced on Thursday.
The new ad format, called free-form ads, is designed to feel similar to the content that users share with each other in order to help advertisers get maximum engagement.
Although the new format may be enticing to advertisers, ads that look like regular posts may not be a welcome addition for users.
The company says the new ad format would be a good way to do things like launch a product or introduce a brand to a new audience.
Similar to other ads on Reddit, users will be able to differentiate between free-form ads and regular posts through a “Promoted” label displayed next to the company’s name on a post.

There’s also an option to share Replay insights with family and friends, as well as revisit monthly and yearly stats in Apple Music’s archive.
Additionally, Apple’s Replay Mix playlist for 2024 is available today in the Apple Music app.
When it launched in 2019, Dusty’s FieldPrinter added a clever new dimension to the world of construction automation.
The little robot is smaller than the first gen, thus allowing it to better move around obstacles.
The 23-pound robot sports a wider print head and a bevy of on-board sensors for improved navigation.
Today’s news also marks the arrival of FieldPrint Platform, which is centered around BIM-to-field — that’s effectively bringing digital information into real-world construction sites.
“Our new FieldPrint Platform supports the seamless flow of data from the design phase, to the field, and back to the trailer,” cofounder and CEO Tessa Lau notes.
Alongside Samsung’s launch event today, Google announced a new way to search on Android phones dubbed “Circle to Search.” The feature will allow users to search from anywhere on their phone by using gestures like circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping.
The search results users will see will differ based on their query and the Google Labs products they opt into.
For a simple text search, you may see traditional search results while a query that combines an image and text — or “multisearch” as Google calls it — uses generative AI.
The feature was one of several Google AI announcements across Gemini, Google Messages, and Android Auto announced at today’s event.
Over time, more Android smartphones will support the feature, Google says.
